BLUM Recovery
Convert a model exported from the BLUM configurator into native Adwood elements: panels become Adwood panels,
drill placeholders become machining groups, and all BLUM parts are grouped into a single hardware component.
How to use
- Open the SketchUp file exported from the BLUM configurator and save it: the hardware component is named after
the file
- Stay at the top level of the model: only the components of the current context are processed
- Launch BLUM Recovery: there is nothing to click, the whole conversion runs in a single pass
- Check the result: the panels are Adwood panels, the drillings are red machining groups, the hardware is one
component
- Resize the assembly to the real drawer width: the recovered assembly is normalized to 200 mm
What the tool creates
- Panels: reoriented, converted to Adwood panels, octagonal holes replaced by real drillings
- Drillings: rebuilt as circular machining groups, one group per plane, entry face in red
- Hardware: all BLUM parts grouped into one component named "file name + drawer length"
- Alignment: the leftmost red drilling face is placed on the model origin (X = 0)
Keys
- Ctrl+Z (PC) or Cmd+Z (Mac) = Undo the whole conversion in one step
Tips
- Work on a copy of the BLUM file: the conversion is destructive and the original drillings are deleted with the
"existant" layer
- If nothing is converted, make sure you are not inside a group or a component
- Classification relies on names and positions: components named "Component..." are drill placeholders, components
at the model origin are panels, all others are BLUM hardware
- The recovered assembly is set up as a dynamic assembly (vertical stretch and horizontal faces disabled) and
starts in the closed state
